Review of Casper Mattress

As a company, Casper revolutionized how many of us buy our sleeping surfaces as well as how much we pay for them and are largely responsible for creating a space where dozens of online-only mattress manufacturers currently flourish.

But does that mean they’re your best option? Can you expect to sleep better on a Casper Mattress? What are some of the pros and cons?

In this article, we’ll talk about what Casper Mattress is, what it offers, what the customers are saying about it, and what we learned during our research all aimed at helping you make an empowered buying decision.

Quick Facts About Casper Mattress

Founded in 2014 by Philip Krim, Casper manufactures a single medium-firm, four-layer memory foam mattress and sells direct to consumers, cutting out the middlemen and passing along the savings.

This way, the company can offer a premium USA-made mattress for a third of the price of the competition.

When developing their mattress, Casper spent months testing thousands of materials and constructing ‘beta beds’ for real-world sleepers. Ultimately, they converged on a hybridized blend of two proprietary materials across four individual layers:

  • Base Layer: 5″ of 1.8 lb/ft polyurethane foam that strengthens the comfort layers above and adds long-lasting durability.
  • Second Layer: 1.5″ of 2.5 lb/ft proprietary transition foam that provides support, comfort, and consistent weight distribution.
  • Third Layer: 1.5″ of 4 lb/ft high-density, viscoelastic memory foam that delivers responsive pressure relief.
  • Top Layer: 1.5″ of open-cell synthetic dunlop latex foam that can help keep you cool at night, with just the right amount of bounce. Hypoallergenic.

Surrounding these four layers is a woven polyester and polypropylene zipper cover with gray sides and a white top that’s breathable, flexible, and resilient.

What Is Casper’s Warranty?

In order to request a return or file a warranty claim, Casper customer support can be reached at 888-498-0003.

Unboxing

Unboxing this mattress itself is an event! Casper clearly put a lot of thought into designing the experienceright down to the little letter opener-style knife to slice open the shrink wrap without damaging the mattress.

The final cutting away proves, thankfully, less explosive than anticipated. Rather, the mattress unfurls and expands as it takes its first deep breath in your new home. Just thinking about it makes me want to go home and crawl into bed for a quick nap.

The best mattress in the world? Probably not. But one of the best.

I cannot say that Casper is the best mattress uk in the world for precisely the same reason. I haven’t slept on every mattress in the world.

This is also why I’m not going to bore you with a bunch of facts about foam density or how it stacks up against Purple, Tuft & Needle, and other new-school mattress companies that have sprung up. I can read the spec chart as well as anyone, but I can’t testify to their actual differences.

I’m speaking purely from personal experience. But in my defense, I always do my homework and I’m pretty opinionated about products. Also, my satisfaction with Casper seems to be in good company amongst the mattress nerds.

Retailing at $950 for a Queen-size, Casper is in the mid-tier price bracket, and certainly a step-up from the cheap-o I was sleeping on before.

Verdict: I bought a Casper and then I stopped thinking about mattresses. Don’t you wish you could say the same?

Where to try or buy a Casper

Casper is an online-only business, which is a huge part of their appeal. You get to skip the hellscape of a traditional mattress store and try out the mattress in your own home for over three months. But if you absolutely have to feel it with your hands before you buy, Casper has started show room in select areas.

All retailers charge the same price for Casper mattresses. If you see a suspiciously low sale price, double-check that it’s not some weird person selling you a used mattress. All (legit) retailers all have the same great 100-day return policy.
